Understanding Tooele County Releases
A Tooele County release is a change in physical custody, but it is not always a return to the community. The Tooele County Sheriff records local jail exits. Utah courts record the legal order behind bail, dismissal, sentencing, or time served. The Utah Department of Corrections, known as UDC, controls state-prison custody and community supervision. Federal agencies control their own prisoners and detainees. Each office can confirm only its part of the chain.
A person normally drops from the public jail roster when the custody data changes. That absence is only a lead. It may reflect bond, completion of a jail term, a court release, transfer to UDC, another county warrant, federal pickup, an immigration handoff, hospitalization, escape, or death. The durable proof is the official release entry with an actual time and disposition. A disposition states what happened to the custody, such as release to the community or transfer to another authority.
Tooele County Release Routes
The Tooele County Sheriff identifies four local paths: payment of bail or a fine, use of a commercial bond, a court release order, and completion of time served. Time served means the court or sentence calculation credits enough time in custody to complete the Tooele County jail term. A dismissal may also lead to release when no other case, warrant, or hold remains. Probation is court-ordered community supervision. Parole is release from a prison sentence under the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole.
- Bail or fine
- Payment satisfies the stated release condition, subject to processing and any other holds.
- Commercial bond
- A bond company posts the required assurance. Jail staff do not select or recommend a company.
- Court order
- A judge authorizes release, but the Tooele County jail must receive and process the paperwork before physical exit.
- Time served
- The credited Tooele County jail term is complete, unless a separate legal hold keeps the person in custody.
- Transfer
- Custody moves to UDC, another jail, USMS, BOP, or ICE rather than ending.
Release and discharge are not synonyms. Release may begin parole or probation. Discharge usually means the sentence or supervision has ended. A release sheet should state the route or receiving authority rather than force every exit into one label.
Tooele County Release Record Fields
The Tooele County Sheriff does not publish a fixed release-record layout online. A request should name the existing Tooele County booking and release fields needed to match the person and explain the exit. This avoids asking the office to create a new report. It also helps separate the act of release from the court order that authorized it.

Certain data may be redacted. Medical, juvenile, victim, security, investigative, sealed, expunged, and private identifying material can have access limits. Ask for segregable public portions, which means the releasable facts left after protected parts are removed.
Request Tooele County Release Records
The Tooele County Sheriff's request-forms page links the official GRAMA form. GRAMA is Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act. The request goes to gramarequest@tooeleco.org or to the Tooele County Sheriff's Office, 1960 South Main Street, Tooele, UT 84074. The main number is 435-882-5600, Corrections is 435-277-4200, and the fax is 435-843-3330. Published administrative hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call before an in-person records visit.
- Give the booked name, aliases, date of birth, booking or case number if known, and a narrow date range.
- Ask for the existing booking sheet, release sheet, and jail-register or release-log entry, including actual release time and disposition.
- Request the releasing authority and any receiving agency or transfer destination that can lawfully be disclosed.
- Choose inspection or electronic copies, ask for an estimate, and request redacted public portions if some fields are restricted.
- If denied, ask for the written classification decision, cited exemption, appeal deadline, and named appeal officer.
The Tooele County Sheriff form lists free inspection, $5 for an incident report with supplements or a state accident report, $25 for other written documents except scale diagrams, and separate picture or media fees. Utah Code permits reasonable actual copy and research costs. The normal GRAMA response is as soon as reasonably possible and no later than ten business days. The five-business-day route applies only when the requester shows a public benefit rather than a personal one.

Tooele County Release Record Law
Utah Code 63G-2-201 provides the baseline right to inspect public records, subject to classification and other limits. Section 63G-2-203 governs fees, including reasonable actual cost and staff time rules. Section 63G-2-204 sets written-request requirements and response paths. A denial under Section 63G-2-205 must identify the legal basis and appeal route without revealing protected matter.
Public website visibility is not a retention period. No verified Tooele schedule promises that a released row stays online for a set time, and the current roster has no archive. Utah Archives schedules and agency rules govern how long the official record remains. Sealing or expungement can remove a qualifying case from public Xchange and limit access to government records. Expungement means government records are sealed through a legal process; it does not prove that each independent historical reference has vanished.
Tooele County Bond Release Paths
Cash bail is accepted at the Tooele County jail. Cash-only warrants and fines require cash or a certified check. A bondable warrant may be handled with cash or a commercial bond company. The Tooele County Sheriff's rules also make clear that staff will not recommend a bond company. Payment is one step, not an instant door time.
Before relying on a bond receipt, ask whether another hold exists and whether the release packet has reached Corrections. A second case, warrant, state commitment, or federal detainer can prevent community release. The release sheet is the record that ties payment or bond to the completed Tooele County exit.
How to Find Tooele Releases
Finding a named person starts with the system that last held legal custody. The Tooele live roster searches by last and first name and displays a data-last-updated time. It is a current-custody tool, not a released-person archive. Use the timestamp and exact spelling, then move through the custody ladder.
- Search the Tooele roster when the last known confinement was local. An absent name does not settle the reason for departure.
- Call the Tooele County Sheriff or Corrections and request the official release entry when the date, time, or disposition matters.
- Check both Tooele court jurisdictions for the order, sentence, bond action, dismissal, later warrant, or case outcome.
- Search UDC and the Utah Board when prison, a county contract bed, parole, or felony probation may apply.
- Use Utah VINE as an alert, then verify its event with the agency that reported it.
- Use BOP, PACER or USMS for federal custody and ODLS for a possible immigration handoff.
- Request the Tooele County Sheriff record if no online source states the actual local disposition.
Match shared names with date of birth, booking number, UDC number, case number, BOP number, or A-number where the system permits. If sources conflict, trust each custodian only for its portion: the Tooele County Sheriff for the county jail, UDC for prison and AP&P, the Board for parole orders, and the court for judicial action.
Tooele County Offender Search
The UDC Offender Search covers people currently incarcerated by UDC or on probation or parole. Search by name or UDC offender number. It does not cover every Tooele jail booking, and it is not a full archive of people who have completed all state supervision. A fully discharged person may no longer appear.

Parole is not discharge. The Board decision controls the legal release action, while UDC status and VINE help confirm implementation. Utah uses indeterminate sentencing, so a hearing month or guideline is not a guaranteed release date.

This state search belongs in the path only when UDC custody or active supervision is plausible. It cannot certify a release from the Tooele County jail.
Tooele County Release Roster Limits
Tooele County publishes no official rolling 24-hour release feed, 72-hour release feed, or released-person archive. The Tooele County roster exposes current name and booking descriptors, but no release date, release type, projected date, date range, or booking photo. Its terms call the public data informational, unofficial, and potentially out of date. The official Tooele County Sheriff record controls.
A precise Tooele County roster timestamp helps judge whether the screen is stale, but no fixed refresh rate is promised. For a recent event, note that time, call Corrections, check the Tooele County court case, review VINE, and request existing release-log entries for the desired interval. Note: No official Tooele sheriff app with a recent-release or jail-photo feature was found in the documented sweep.
Tooele County Release Processing Time
The Tooele County Sheriff's release rules give a two-to-eight-hour processing interval after court paperwork reaches the Tooele County jail. This is not a promised release hour. A judge may sign an order, and the docket may show it, while Tooele County jail checks and paperwork are still underway. The roster can also continue to show the person during part of that interval.
No official Tooele County source states a fixed exit door, a weekend or holiday schedule, or a set release hour. Call Corrections for the specific event. When exact physical exit matters, pair the court order with the Tooele County Sheriff's actual release time instead of treating the order timestamp as the door-out time.
Getting Home After Tooele Release
Tooele County Health lists UTA On Demand and the F-453 Flex Route connection toward Salt Lake. It does not promise a detention-center stop or a ride for a person leaving jail. Confirm completion with Corrections before a family member travels, then check the current UTA zone and schedule.
State-prison release uses a different route. UDC says most paroles and releases are processed at the Utah State Correctional Facility. People without a ride may be taken to a nearby UTA TRAX station and are released last. That state fallback should not be presented as a Tooele jail service.
Tooele County Release Transition Programs
UDC's 2025 jail-program booklet documents Tooele's female L.O.T.U.S. intensive outpatient program along with high-school completion, Inside Out Dad, Moral Reconation Therapy, Smart Steps, Exit Strategies, RISE, Prime for Life, AA/NA, and other offerings. It reports seven successful L.O.T.U.S. transitions and 30 HB 157 completions in fiscal year 2024.
Those figures measure Tooele County program activity. They are not Tooele County's total release count, and they do not promise an outcome for one person. UDC Adult Probation and Parole handles state community supervision, while the Board makes parole decisions. Program participation may matter to a state case, but the posted Board order and current UDC status remain the records to check.
Tooele County Release Court Checks
Tooele County Justice Court and Third District Court occupy the Gordon R. Hall Courthouse at 74 South 100 East in separate suites. Justice Court handles most class B and C misdemeanors, infractions, traffic cases, and fine payments. District Court handles felonies and class A misdemeanors. Search both when the charge grade is unclear.
Utah Courts Xchange can show parties, hearings, judgments, orders, sentences, and completed-case outcomes. Tooele district court coverage is complete for cases filed from November 3, 1997, while older or legacy entries may be incomplete. A party can use MyCase for a supported case, and free public terminals are available at many district courthouses and the State Law Library.

Tooele County ICE Release Checks
The Tooele County jail can hold ICE detainees without being a dedicated ICE detention center. KUER reported in September 2025 that Tooele County accepted immigration detainees when space allowed, with no fixed ICE bed allotment, and cited a roughly two-day average stay. These dated figures describe the Tooele arrangement, not any named person's outcome.
A roster disappearance may therefore mean an ICE transfer. Search the Online Detainee Locator System by A-number and country of birth or by biographical details. ICE says ODLS can include people released from its custody during the prior 60 days. A missing result still does not prove community release because spelling, age, transfer timing, and record coverage can affect a match.
Tooele County Release Custody Changes
The 280-bed Tooele County Detention Center also participates in UDC's Inmate Placement Program. UDC's booklet reports 100 contracted state beds and 94 available at the time of that report. A state client remains under UDC authority even while housed at the Tooele County address. The building alone does not reveal which release system controls.
UDC says a state prisoner in a Tooele County contract bed will almost always travel to the Utah State Correctional Facility for release processing. Direct community release from the Tooele County jail is described as extremely rare. Likewise, a USMS or ICE pickup is a transfer, not proof that the person is free. Always follow the receiving custodian named on the Tooele County Sheriff record.

Choose the record by legal custodian and stage. One search cannot cover a Tooele County jail exit, a Utah prison parole, and a federal handoff. The table keeps those systems separate.
