Tooele Detention Release Destinations
A person can leave the Tooele County Detention Center through payment of bail or a fine, a commercial bond, a court release order, or completion of time served. Those are the four local routes the Sheriff publishes. Yet a departure from the building does not always mean return to the community. The same facility can house a person held for Utah corrections, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration authorities. A transfer to one of those custodians is an exit from the county jail, but it is not a community release.
The official release entry should identify the actual date and time, the authority or reason, and any receiving agency that may be disclosed. A court order explains why local custody could end. It does not establish the precise moment that jail staff completed the release. If another hold exists, the person may remain confined or move to a different system. That is why the receiving-custody field matters as much as the door-out time.

Confirm a Tooele Detention Release
The official Tooele name-search roster is a current-custody starting point. Search by last and first name and note the page's data-updated time. Its details include name, age, physical descriptors, booking date, charges, and bonds. It supplies no public release date, release type, photograph, booking number, date-range filter, or released archive. The Sheriff also warns that the public display is unofficial and may lag.
- Search the current roster using the exact name and spelling variants. Record the update time rather than calling the page “real time.”
- Call Corrections at 435-277-4200. Ask whether the person remains in custody and whether a public release or transfer disposition can be confirmed.
- Check Tooele Justice Court and Third District Court records for the case, order, bond action, sentence, or later warrant that may explain the change.
- Use Utah VINE for a custody-change alert, then verify that alert against the Sheriff or the agency named in the result.
- If documentation is required, request the existing booking sheet, jail-register or release-log entry, and release sheet under GRAMA.
A missing roster name is only a lead. It cannot distinguish community release from transfer, delayed data, a different hold, or another custody outcome.
Tooele Detention Records Contact
The Sheriff's Office operates the jail and holds the official county booking and release record. Immediate custody questions belong with Corrections. Written requests should identify the person, aliases, date of birth, booking or case number when known, and a narrow date range. Ask for actual release date and time, release reason, releasing authority, bond status, and a receiving agency or destination if public.

The Sheriff request page links the official form. Utah Code 63G-2-204 generally allows up to ten business days for a normal response. The agency may grant the request, redact protected parts, deny it with a legal basis, identify another custodian, or invoke an extraordinary circumstance. Ask for the segregable public fields if part of the record is restricted.
Tooele Detention Release Timing
Tooele publishes a processing interval, not a fixed release hour. The Sheriff's rules state that release can take two to eight hours after court paperwork reaches the jail. A signed order on a docket may therefore precede physical release by several hours. Staff must receive and process it, check holds, and complete the facility's steps. A person may still appear on the roster during part of that interval.
The county publishes no standard exit door, weekend or holiday schedule, property-return instruction, release identification rule, transportation promise, or gate-money policy. Those gaps should not be filled with practices from another jail. Call Corrections for the current process and wait for confirmation before arranging pickup. The exact release entry, not an assumed shift or court time, records the completed local exit.
The Sheriff's release rules show the four routes and processing warning.

This official page is more useful for timing expectations than the live roster because it explains why court authority and physical discharge can occur hours apart.
Three Custodians in One Facility
The Detention Center is a 72,000-square-foot county facility with 280 beds in men's, women's, and medical pods. Those figures describe the building, but not every person's legal custodian. UDC's Inmate Placement Program also uses county beds. Its 2025 jail-program booklet reports 100 contracted state beds and 94 available at Tooele. A state client remains under UDC authority while housed at the county address.
This custody overlap changes the correct search. The Sheriff documents movement out of the building. UDC controls a state prisoner's discharge and supervision. USMS or ICE controls a federal or immigration transfer. Always ask which agency had legal custody immediately before departure and which agency received the person.
UDC Releases From Tooele Beds
A UDC prisoner housed at the Tooele County Detention Center ordinarily does not complete state release at the county door. UDC says almost all county-jail state clients travel to the Utah State Correctional Facility for release processing. Direct release from a county jail is extremely rare. The county roster can therefore lose the name when transport begins even though the state release is not complete.
Utah processes state paroles and releases on Tuesdays, with most completed at USCF. The Board order supplies the legal parole or release action. UDC Offender Search supplies current location, status, or “Release Date/Type” when shown. Adult Probation and Parole confirms active supervision, and VINE can alert to the custody event. A Community Correctional Center placement is supervised movement, not full discharge.
For a Tooele-connected state client, the Utah State Correctional Facility release page explains the state processing route. Do not apply county bail rules to that state-prison discharge.
ICE Transfers From Tooele Detention
The jail can hold people for ICE without being a dedicated immigration detention center. Reporting from KUER in September 2025 described Tooele as accepting people when space was available rather than reserving a fixed ICE allotment. The report cited about a two-day average stay. These dated figures do not prove any individual's custody path, but they make a short transfer a realistic explanation for a roster disappearance.
Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator by A-number and country of birth, or by biographical details. ICE states that ODLS may show people currently held and some people released from ICE custody during the prior 60 days. A missing result still does not prove community release because spelling, transfer timing, age restrictions, or data coverage can affect a match. Call the facility or Enforcement and Removal Operations contact shown in the result.
A federal pretrial person may remain under USMS and not yet have a useful BOP record. For that path, check PACER and the federal court first. A sentenced federal prisoner belongs in the BOP locator. None of these systems replaces the Sheriff's record of the person's exit from the Tooele building.
Tooele Jail Programs and Transition
The UDC jail-program booklet documents several programs at Tooele, including high-school completion, Inside Out Dad, Moral Reconation Therapy, Smart Steps, Exit Strategies, RISE, Prime for Life, peer-support meetings, and the L.O.T.U.S. intensive outpatient program for women. It reports seven successful L.O.T.U.S. transitions and 30 HB 157 completions in fiscal year 2024. These are program measures, not the county's total releases and not a promise about a participant's outcome.
Program participation can help explain a person's state case-action plan or transition record, but it does not itself prove a release date. The Board, UDC, court, and Sheriff each retain separate authority. When a state release depends on earned-time credit, use the approved-program record and Board order. When a county term ends, use the judgment and Sheriff release entry.

Use a person-specific search as a lead, then match it to the correct county, state, or federal custodian. An official release sheet or agency status remains the sound confirmation.
